About Me

I can remember painting with my sister as early as 6 years old, but I did not become serious about art until much later when I met an amazing art teacher in high school. She taught me that art was about having fun and expressing yourself. From then on I continued to experiment and grow as an artist. I attended college at Central Missouri State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and met many inspiring artists.

To this day art is a part of my everyday life. If I am not painting, I am designing or photographing something. You will almost always find me with a camera just in case I come across some reference that might later be useful in a painting.

My current works feature Cosplayers and other people in costumes. I have met many interesting people while traveling and these people seem to embody the characters they portray. I have a fascination with things that are often overlooked or disregarded as being weird or unimportant. That is where my love of painting cosplayers comes from. Out in the world they are thought of as weird and different, but in art they can be beautiful and interesting.

My pet paintings were born out of my love of my own pets. After painting my brother-in-law's dog as a Christmas gift I realized that other people would appreciate it too and began offering my services to the public. My favorite part of painting people's pets is their excitement when they get the finished painting. It is a great thing to know that other pet owners not only love their pets as much as I do, but also want to do something special to honor these special members of our families.

Well there you have it! A brief overview of who I am and why I do what I do. If you have any questions or would like to have a painting done of your family or pets email me at ashley@ashleycorbello.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
